Some questionable morning-lines this weekend, as in, do you think Battle Plan is going to be 6-1 tomorrow in the N.O. 'Cap? I'd bet he's closer to 6-5 than 6-1, myself. To a lesser extent, Seeking the Title probably priced wrong at 10-1 in upcoming FG Oaks, though she has just drifted from 4-1 to 9-2. Mambo Fever, 6-1 on the line, currently sits as tepid choice at 7-2. Morning-line favorite Ailalea, drawn wide in post 11, sits at 11-1. Thought Visavis would be shorter than the 7-1 at which she currently sits. Her trainer, Steve Margolis, swept the opening daily double today.
Really think the pace is going to be demanding in the FG Oaks, and would want my selection no closer than the second flight.
Mike Stidham swept top two slots of Bayou Handicap, but far longer priced A She's Adorable came within a head of taking down odds-on Tizaqueena. The winner had a trip I hate in turf routes, sitting second by many lengths behind a loose leader who you know is coming back to the field at some point. Judging just when that will happen is a tough tast, and it took a game effort from Tizaqueena to hold on. She also might well have been a race away from best, especially going nine furlongs. Jocks mainly kept to outside of course, but don't know that inside paths are as bad as they were during recent periods when inner turf rail was placed all the way in.
