GULFSTREAM: In a stunner...

Inkado pulled off the first upset of the meet when pulling away from favorites Birdun and Alma d'Oro through the stretch to win the sixth race at 30-1 for former Todd Pletcher assisant Michelle Nihei.  Scratched in off the also-eligible list to boot. Disappointing effort from Alma D Oro who dueled the winner to the sretch and had nothing left in his third start off the layoff.

Santa Anita: Quick fractions in first Winter Camp set an early pace of 21.77 and 43.98 seconds and was not threatened in the stretch, winning Sunday's first race at Santa Anita. Winter Camp ($8.80) ran 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:15.27, finshing 4 3-4 lengths in front of Toro Trippi. Minsters Altarboy, the 6-5 favorite, was fully extended to finish third in a field of six. The fractions were the fastest of the meeting on the eighth day of the season.

Fair Grounds: Go wide young man! If you (are there actually any 'yous' out there reading?) have been reading my Inside Posts, you might have noticed that a few days ago I proposed an outside bias to the FG grass course. At this point, that idea has been completely confirmed by evidence. Most of the jocks are avoiding the rail like the plague, and the sorry soul that dives to the inside for the stretch run soon finds their mount running in place. Snakebite Kit just won race 5 leading all the way, so it's not impossible for a front-runner to score, but jockey John Jacinto...
