M One Rifle ($16.20) used his speed to take control of the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita in Saturday, winning the most prestigious race of his career by 2 1-2 lengths.
Behind him, several of the runners did not have ideal trips. Runner-up Misremembered raced in traffic on the backstretch and rallied on the rail through the stretch. Supreme Summit, who finished fourth, broke slowly and rallied four-wide. Hunch, who finished fifth, was crowded at the start and was four-wide.
Neither of trainer Todd Pletcher's runners had any luck. Join in the Dance and Kinsella finished 11th and 12th in the field of 13 after racing in traffic on the backstretch.
