Hard to believe the local weather forecast still is calling for high temps in the mid-90s tomorrow. It's about 67 here right now and feels like Portland, Oregon. Hot air supposed to start streaming in tomorrow morning, I guess.
This has been among the fastest-playing Polytracks of the meet, with final times really quick throughout the day, a regular occurrence when it's cool and damp here. That said, I've seen no sign of a bias in either sprints or routes.
Well, apparently synthetics are out for Orphan Brigade, who runs well on turf and dirt, and has held his form admirably through age 8. But as controlling speed in race 4, he offered no stretch resistance, as trainer Hugh Robertson ran one-two, with longer-priced City Number on the inside outfinishing Sub Futz Jr on the outside.
In race 8, the nominal feature, it was another all-Robertson exacta, this time with 6-1 Mac Robertson-trained Garburetor up by an eyelash over father Hugh's 3-1 shot He's Bonafide. Calhoun's horse here, King of Speed, did much better than Orphan Brigade, but was no match late while third after taking the lead into the stretch.
