Apparently, this thing was dead for today after four legs, despite the fact that favorites won legs 4 and 5. Guess there was just too much noise throughout the sequence, which certainly is the way the thing looked to me.
Recapturetheglory gave Baird win no. 1999, and two in a row on this card. No surprise - the pair went straight out for the lead, set a mild pace (that seemed milder because of wind and the rail being so far out), and out-sprinted pressing Wicked Style in the stretch. I didn't think Recapturetheglory really was a turf horse, but he gets over the ground well enough. But as I keep saying, the front end is the place to be under this rail configuration, and Recapture had everything in his corner this time.
So, that's $155,556 worth of 11-day Pick Six carryover going into Friday's program. The sequence Friday spans races 5-10, with post for race 5 scheduled for 4:27. The Friday sequence looks far more manageable to me than did today's, but it may take some doing to get through the opening leg, an inscrutable $30K maiden-claimer on turf. I'll be spreading.
