Those handicappers who blindly label Monmouth Park a speed-favoring track better have been playing someplace else today: the first three races were all won by horses who came from off the pace. Granted, a duel ruined the chances of speed horses in the opener and in the 2nd race, and Frame of Reference, the winner of the 3rd, was close-up from the start, but it's hardly a highway, despite the reputation as such.
That said, Noisy Feet, the likely pacesetter in the upcoming 5th race, is currently 8/5 with seven minutes to go but Beyer Beware: her latest figure fits well but was earned with the aid of a loose lead, and she'll have the rail to contend with today. She also is making her 2nd start off the layoff. She can win, sure, but things will need to go her way, and that includes a clean break. Sumptuous, #2, won't retain her 6-1 odds, as she's 2nd choice in the Pick 3's and Pick 4's, but she may offer some value, as the win pool doesn't reflect the fact that she's "live" in her first start in nearly a year.
